It has been discovered that issue 55 gave incorrect dimensions for the front side fuselage formers, this has just been confirmed and will explain the difficulty some modellers have experienced in fitting these parts, the correct dimension between the lower lugs is 85 mm and not 73 mm as stated in photo No.7 of the instructions, also there have been reports of the longerons terminating before the lugs of the formers despite following the correct dimensions given, this has in fact happened with the test model and a solution has been found as follows-Where the longerons end make four brass tube fittings depending on the length required, slide these onto the brass rods and lock them in place with thin cyno, now offer up the front side pieces and carefully measure the spacing with the correct dimensions given above, slip the pieces over the brass tube and rod then lock into place with thin cyno again, when dry re-inforce the joints with slow drying epoxy.

If necessary later when the front bulkhead assembly is known small brass extensions can be fitted in to the brass tube.

What your Red Baron model will look like.

I have received quite a bit of feedback regarding this model and everyone it seems wants to see what it will look like when completed ! well to kill two birds with one stone here is a completed Hasagawa Fokker Dr.1 Triplane on which this museum quality model is based,it also helps to understand the complexities of those fuselage frames that are causing so many problems with the build at present, but I think that once the front decking and bulkhead are added it will start to evolve nicely as things click into place.

On an historical note Hasagawa produced this and the Sopwith Camel to 1=8 th scale, the idea was to produce an whole range of classic aircraft to a very high standard of detail, unfortunately the sales were poor due to the fairly high price of £450 which put people off, this is where the part works scored as whilst it will cost more at least the model can be built in stages and the cost spread over a period of time.

We will continue here to highlight the construction of this model in order to assist the builders dedicated to seeing this project through to the end.
