Finished this recently and took it to model club tonight. She’ll be on show at the Northwest Ship Show 2022 in Liverpool this weekend, 24th Sept.
Built out of the box using a Pontos deck kit, Tamiya paints and MIG weathering.
This is another of my “Rites of Passage” kits, one of those kits I’ve always wanted to do. Well not this exact one, rather the brand and scale. All those boyhood years in model shops gazing wishfully at the unaffordable ships on the shelf. Now I’ve done one; ✅

I have that memory too, but for me it was a Convair B36 Peacemaker. Years later, ebay, £50, job done, it was mine at last.
Anyway, this is indeed a splendid looking vessel.

Rick,
very nice indeed - how did you get on with the Pontos deck? - there are connected drawbacks to 1/350 ship models! You can't fit many on a shelf - and to protect it from dust and flicking dusters, you have to have a display case ;) The largest 1/350 model in my stash is now the Zvezda 'Varyag' - just about the right size!

Once I got used to it I found it fairly straightforward to use, but there are few mistakes. First ship and first use of the Pontos deck - it even comes with miniature chain and run on decal for the plimsoll line.
I am fortunate Dave, I have a period property with a plate shelf in the hall. The trouble is I also have a wife!
