Got his leather gauntlets painted up last night, they need a very translucent coat of Tamiya smoke then a semi gloss coat to give them some shine.

Great work on the gloves Steve. You're getting nearer the face!

Haha, yep running out of things to paint. I plan to take his head and a few others on holiday (down to Milford on Sea) next week, so should get a good run at it

Managed to get some paint on Baders face, whilst at the caravan (in the evenings). Colours are from Mr Paints flesh range, they dry to a perfect Matt finish

Whilst I had the mixes in my wet palette I also started on Roger Ranger

Hi Steve

The cock-pit look really good - all of your effort has definately paid off.

The faces look fine, I especially like the Roger's Ranger. A sculpting rather than painting comment- not sure that the likeness of Bader has really been caught by the sculpter. Even os, it will be a great looking model when finished.

Nope I think thats a fair point about Baders face, his nose in this one is to pointy and his face is to thin;

its strange really as they seem to have nailed it in the standing Bader figure they also produced;

you're right about the earlier figure being a spot on likeness. as you say, strange because I think they use CAD so would have thought that one could have been used as the basis for the second.

I doubt if this reduces the enjoyment and challenge of the kit.

Control column painted; its another piece of finely detailed sculpting and molding,its a shame but wont be seen once installed into the cockpit;

Boots painted and lightly weathered, just a bit of mud from running to his Spitfire.

I'm more and more impressed all the time Steve. The 'distressed' leather helmet is perfect.

Cheers, Helmet has been toned down a bit as was to glossy to the naked eye, so a semi gloss applied over the top and worn marks added to the raised edges. Cockpit is masked up ready for its outside camo colours to be added.

Nearly there , just got t to fit his arms into the sockets, may need a bit of push/pull trimming / filling and into the cockpit he can go. Will spray the cockpit side with brown to complete the camouflage this weekend, Green is already down and that will complete the whole project, so hopefully been finished this weekend/ early next week.
