Put the Dremmel down and step away from the table!!!

Brasso is your best bet if that is all you have at hand. You can also buy special sanding sticks to remove scratches with. Is it a deep scratch or just a little one?

Depending on the depth of the scratch, start with sandpaper and work your ways through the grades until 12000 grit, then polish.  You can buy special polishing compounds but I find toothpaste does the job for me, and it even smells nice and minty.

Difficult to say, if the faint scratches are from sanding I would say go finer.  If they are from the same time as the deep scratch you  can try finer but you may need to go coarser until they are gone and then go finer again to remove the sanding marks.
