While waiting for stuff for the dozer I thought I would have a look in here.

And very interesting it looks too.

The brown sprues are for the tracks, each sprue has 60 parts, and there are 6 sprues, so that will take an hour or two.

Nice clear instructions and paint guide, 2 sheets of PE, 3 rubber tyres and a bit of string presumably for the winch, some decals and an optional canvas tilt. I should have the dozer done tomorrow so this will be next in line

Made a start on this, basic chassis parts.

The model has quite a detailed engine but the instructions say it's painted black which seems a shame, I think I need to try and find pictures of the real thing to get a better idea of colours for the whole thing as the sheet shows it all the same colour, of course, it could be right.

Will any of that engine be visible at all, painted black or not? If not, then I’d just leave it out wholesale.

Hi Andy, according to the color photo ref. I have it's black from what I can see all black except for the rusty exhaust manifold. hope this helps.

Thanks for that, you must be better at research than me as I can not find any decent colour pictures of this machine. Must try harder.

A restored one or one in original condition? Because if it’s been restored, you only have the restorer’s word for it that it’s the right colour.

Not much progress to report as the weather has been good so been out on the bike a lot the last few days. I have got some more sub assemblies built and a bit of PE done which will probably never be seen. I really must buy some proper PE tools as most kits nowadays seem to have it.

Still not decided whether to fit the tilt or not, if I don't then I will have to look for some stuff to load the thing up with.

I've always liked the look of this vehicle - can't wait to build it myself :smiling: Enjoy!

I have been neglecting this for a while as the weather has been good so I have covered a lot of miles on the bike, but back at it now.
Time for a bit of painting.

I want the road wheels/idlers to be a bit darker so I gave them a light coat of black before the sand, not sure if it works or not, time will tell once I paint the tyres and fit them to the chassis.

The weather forecast is for more rain so I should get on with building this week.

Getting a bit further on today, road wheels fitted. Quite a lot of alignment issues but it will never be seen with the tracks on.

I decided not to follow the instructions to fit the tracks before fitting the drivers cab as I thought that it would be a a pain to try and paint it all afterwards. Now I find that it will be a real fight to fit the tracks when it is all assembled, they will fit, but not easily and I am liking Trumpeter a bit less today.

Perhaps I should stop moaning and make up the other track, only 168 bits to put together.

Slow progress, but progress none the less, got the engine and the windscreen fitted. Also finished the tracks, just need to paint them now. Put it together without glue to see how it looks and I am pleased with it so far.

Still not decided whether to fit the tilt or not but if I did fit it I will save on buying stuff to load it up with and after looking at Tamiya 1/12 formula 1 cars I will need to save a lot if I want one.
