Hi Guys

here is my latest bust project - a return to VC recipients, this time another of the Victorian period, Sgt Willian Gardner who was awarded the VC for an action during the Indian Mutiney when he saved the life of his commanding officer. The bust is based upon a photo (below) which was taken after the Crimean war and before his VC action.

As normal, I started with the head, painted withoil paints over a base coat of Vallejo acrylics:

Great detail ! Do you have a list of VC recipients that you have modelled?

Hi Peter
By'eck Mr Gillson you're good at this. The sculpt is great and the painting really brings it to life. As others have said that is an excellent beard.

Hi Guys

i've been spending too much time binding my old copies of Mil Mod, but have managed to do some work on this chap.

next the pack needs to be painted, after that a little refinement and touching up.

i'll post some better photos (camera not Ipad) when its finished

Looking good Peter. Bit of a gimlet eye there, he’s got an echo of Billy Connolly about him.

Very nicely done indeed. Looks much better with the headgear on (sorry don't know the official word for this type). He always looked a bit odd with a flat head but he really is looking the part now.

Very well done.
