Rick is it a military version of an aero tug, if it is then it's original use is a glider tug / crop sprayer

a derivative of the civilian version used for agriculture management and crop spraying amongst other things.
That is the direction I was thinking in, mainly because of the downward-sloping fuselage forward of the windshield that you often see on crop-dusters, but I didn’t put enough effort into finding out what it might be.

Soldiers of the 1321st operating heavy machinery....it really doesn’t help...

US stonecrusher?

I'd go with Tims stonecrusher!

It's got a conveyor out the side of it and there's a pile rocks in the background... maybe crushing to make cement?

Funnily enough, in the bigger picture I found it looks a bit like a pipe layer because there’s a big boom to the left of the image

Sorry guys. I was visiting family in NY. Tim has it at stone crusher. 2nd stage of US Army Rock Crushing Plant actually. 1st stage (in background) makes big rocks into smaller & feeds 2nd (both are constructed as trailers) stage that makes gravel. Didn't think you'd tumble that fast. PaulE

Hi Paul
I think you made a diorama of that set up didn’t you?
I’ll try to think of something overnight....listening to vinyl at the moment, something I don’t do often enough.....
Cheers
