Hi Paul,

I admire your photographs and how you set up the diorama. I believe capturing the tank battle scenery wasn't easy to do. Would such diorama photography requires artificial lighting and special camera?

An old Coolpix digital. I believe a real photographer could get better depth of field & detail easily. I pretty much just point & shoot.

Selected a Platoon of armored infantry sans tracks. No BARs were issued to AI platoons as late 44 platoon tracks had eight 30cal. & two 50cal. MGs. These & their three 60mm mortars were left behind in this case for speed and no significant enemy infantry was expected. Squads were deployed mainly to support tanks, coms., & rocketeers. Now to paint the 46 little guys.

Hong, thank you. The Coolpix does have a portrait mode for closeups that I use for most of my pics.
If the cool pix has a macro setting (usually identified by a flower icon) try that Paul. It will increase depth of field and allow you to get in a bit closer. Portrait mode (head icon) is usually trying to set the camera up for a shallow depth of field to blur the background behind the subject. It’s not really for close ups.

Thanks Tim, I misspoke. The mode I called "portrait" was in reality the macro (flower icon). Shows to'go'ya how little I know of photography.
