The search for Mojo 1/16 Figurines and 1/48

Hello all,

As I mentioned in my Market Garden Diorama thread I am looking for my figurine mojo, has been a while since I did a whole figurine and not just a woman’s dress .

But here are some pictures. Pictures show the different stages the figurines are in at the moment.

All are in 1/16 scale

First of is a German Grenadier from Dragon

Thank you all,

yes that with the dry brush on figurines is something I wanted to try, read about it in a modelling book, where the writer used a base coat of black and some pre shading with the dry brush method. I to like the result, when I look at the German in the greatcoat. The coat is done with several layers of Vallejo's over the dry brushing to get the shades right.

look great to me Richi,the dry brush technique, has worked out very well, and I,m one who real like the hard weathered look,

to me you have nailed it, top work,

also the faces are very interesting as well, how ever you did them brings out all the detail, which looks superb :rolleyes: keep up the great work loving it :D

Very good finish. I have never tried figure painting. I think it is very difficult to get it right, as you have done.

Hi Moni,

well I did the faces as following, first a basecoat of Vallejo black then dry brushing with Vallejo white as a pre shading, and then I took a mix of Vallejo 1 part 845 and 1 part 835 and dry brushed it on. that's were I am at the moment next steps are washes to bring the face together.

Thanks Steve, funny thing is I can make 1 nice figurine that I like, and the next one with the same technics lands for the rest of his life in the shadows of a deep cellar not seeing the daylight ever a gain.

So I keep trying and trying.... and tr.... and so on

hi Richi, thank you for the info,o_O I do like the way so far how they have turned out, I,m always very interested in how others do there faces,/ figures

its just given depth, and has brought out the detail,:rolleyes:

I like to use black as an undercoat as well, then a mid stone, and then a coat of medium flesh , so you can see why im interested in other ways,

than start on the detail, but never use a plain white, will be an off white or aged white, and for eyes use a very pale gray ,

Hi,

here's a little update on the Machine gunner in the Greatcoat.

Gave the face a first wash, and painted his gear, next up a second face wash and the mg42 and some highlighting of the Belt suspenders.

first 4 pictures in a soft yellow light, last 4 pictures in a white light.

working on the face at the moment, I used to paint them with oils, this is my first try with acrylics, so lets see what happens.

Very nice work Richard.

Lot I have learnt from your work here. I very much like painting aircrew and although improving there is still along way to go seeing the figures here.

The tucks and folds in the clothing must be painstaking to get it as you have. Very artistic.

Thanks Guy's and Girl,

for the kind and motivating words.

The metallic effects I made with a base colour of black and then I use a normal HB graphite pencil and gently draw over the raised details and those arias I want to shine like metal. For the highlighting I used some basic skin tone (because this is a softer colour in relation to white) end carefully put one some little highlights.
