Firstly, apologies to all the diorama builders on the forum. This is not a diorama in the accepted sense. It is really a group of vignettes arranged to illustrate a point in time.
The story behind it does not come from any of the "d'Artagnan" books. It is merely my attempt at making a setting for the figures.
So, the story.

When d'Artagnan arrived in Paris to enrol in the Musketeers the first person he met was Athos, who took an instant liking to the young recruit and decided to introduce him to his friends Porthos and Aramis, who he knew were on the city walls. As the pair arrived on the top of the walls and came in sight of the two Musketeers, the gaily dressed pair burst out laughing. Young d'Artagnan immediately thought that they were making fun of his less than fashionable clothing and, being the proud hot head he was, decided a blade would answer the perceived insult and started to draw his sword. Athos saw the movement and put out his arm in a stopping gesture, saying "No d'Artagnan they are laughing at me!"
He said this knowing it to be true as his comrades always made fun of Athos's refusal to wear the latest fashions, such as the short doublets, and continued wearing the long coats of the previous generation.
Now, photo's.
