I hope you have less hassle, getting a good fit, installing the internal assembly into the fuselage halves than my Italeri version.I’ll let you know how it goes together…..
First aero engine I ever worked on was a radial. 14 cylinder Avis Leonides Major. 28 spark plugs, 2 magnetos. Beast of a machine to turn over pre start!!!! You had to cycle the pistons 2.5 times to prevent hydraulicing. Can't remember how many times you have to turn the hand crank!! Those pics just brought it all back. (That was 50 + years ago!!!)Well, progress at last.
Engine is done and painted. These big radials take a bit of work don’t they…..

Not too worried about the loose wires, they will be under the cowling, and I will handle it by the support structure….
Lovely stuff Tim, very nice indeed.Well, progress at last.

Oh, I don’t know Jim, saved me about thirty bits of etch….there are still fourteen on show….glad you like it though. That engine is very nice indeed. Shame you'll only have a head on view.
Not that late Allen, it’s been a sluggish start. Thanks for the support though…..Only about 10 days late into the party Tim, but you are off to a great start on this. Nice looking motor there, Sir!!! Bet that cost a few nerves to do...I hope you don't forget to add the 'Champion' decals to the spark plugs Buddy!!!...Very important, you know..........
Prost
Allen
Cheers Neil.Great start Tim.
I've always had a soft spot for the FAA, my dad was a FAA storeman just after the war. I did enjoy the museum when I went about 10 years ago.
Cheers MarkLooking good
Pot bellied pig John? Have we been on the same run ashore at some time mate?I'm in, just the size of it makes it interesting, like a pot bellied pig .
