I am using Vallejo model air paints. Can anyone tell me the the correct Vallejo colours for the aircraft (Corsair, Hellcat etc ) of this period?

Cheers, Jim

Hey Jim,

I'm no expert, but after a little looking around I found this site,

Grumman F6F Hellcat and

Aircraft illustration

I compared the colours against the paint conversion chart,

The Ultimate Model Paint Conversion Chart

And I think the colours you need are -

val045 US Lt gray, val089 Lt sea blue, and val087 Dark sea blue.

These are colours for WW2 aircraft.

As I said, I'm no expert but I hope this helps.

Tony.

Hi Jim,you've got to check dates/references. I'm no expert on US Navy camouflage but I know the scheme evolved from an early/pre war scheme, through the tri-colour sceme to the overall glossy sea blue scheme.

Cheers

Jim this gives colour references for 3 marks of the F6F

Grumman F6F Hellcat

Go to Colour Marking in the lists & the three types open up. Gives colours for different paint manufacturers. If they do not list Vallejo go to the Vallejo site & they have list conversions for most manufacturers.

They do not have the Corsair listed. That is a nuisance as that is probably my next model.
