I bought this in 98 when insurrection was released I never liked the fact it doesn't actually look like the enterprise E. I discovered today that the battery compartment no longer works. The circuit does though so......
I've ripped it out, and I'm going to put it in my model. I now have the sound of the warp drive and photon torpedoes. Who knew that this ship would actually be useful?????
And the first test for the spot. I wanted to ensure it actually illuminated the registration area of the hull. And that's where I am at with this ship.
This is my custom shuttle bay with 1:1400 scale runabouts (from voyager) the bay floor is a perspex lid to a set of drill bits I had. I cut, shaped and painted it and attached 2 of the 3 craft to it, the third has another purpose. Because I have 2 of the enterprise kits I used the spare clear shuttle bay part, I painted it blue and have placed it parallel to the kit part.
Thanks John. I'm glad you like it so far being a fellow trekker. I am loving this. There have been times I wanted to throw it (3 when I shorted all the saucer bulbs, when I dropped the center of the paragraphics sensor array in super glue and when the effin windows didn't seem to decrease amount after 3 months) it's been a challenge and like I have said I have never done anything like this. I saw the hellios video on you tube and thought "how hard can it be?" Well now I know. Lol
I know where you are coming from Colin, I've been working on USS Voyager for years now lol. And somewhere in my modelling room there is a Runabout thats been started (but i think thats on a red shirt away mission).
It's salvageable, it's just under lots of other projects that need finishing lol. But the son-in-law came up last night and he's good with circuit boards and things called Arduino, so it looks like i have to start the interior again. Can't wait hehehe.
Lol. I've only got this one on the go atm, but I do have my next ship ready to start. I have been really well behaved and left it unopened in its box... for now.....
