Hi all. I've been beavering away at this for a while and finally got it done. It's the limited edition Airfix Spitfire Mk XVIe kit from a few years ago in the markings of the AOC 21 Group RAF, and was the kit that SWIMBO got me when I first got back into sticking bits of plastic together, so it's kinda special to me. It's also my first foray into 1/48.
The kit is pretty much OOB apart from the addition of the Eduard zoom PE set, which is worth the investment for the belts alone. It went together ok, apart from monumental gaps at the wing roots, which were approx. 1.5mm in places. I suspect this was down to Airfx using a modified Mk IX kit and getting some measurements not quite right, as not even my modelling is that bad !!
The decals are a bit iffy and don't seem to have settled properly in some places, despite the use of Microsol and Clearfix to get them to do so.
Oh, and I should have used the masks for it, as my work in that area still needs considerable improvement.....
But, as my first go at the bigger scale, I'm quite happy with it.
Any and all comments gratefully received
