Here goes I plan to go steady with this and not rush I have seen many amazing builds of this and will be happy if I can turn one out half as good first of all box and spru shots.

First job was to drill out these rear pieces not entirely sure what they are but I assume exhaust of some sorts

I'm looking forward to this one Dave. I have heard the plastic can be fussy about oil based paints like enamels though.

That's ok I'm on acrylics I've heard the plastic goes brittle with oil based in guess that's why there's no glue involved either.

Agreed. Phil Flory had one of these bandai kits that literally crumbled into bits when he used enamels.

Looking good I've been collecting these bandai kits for a while now even just done oob they are stunning kits the r2-d2 r5-d4 is just a superb kit

Today was a play with the new airbrush and an attempt at pre shading some panels which went better than I thought I'm going to give it an all over colour then try and paint some individual panels slight different shades.

It has now had a light grey coat and a over spray of white I will leave it a couple of days to properly cure now I need to remember do the guns as there's a join line I don't like on them I have now filled and a couple of clumsy spray marks. The rest I'm happy with the effect now to decide on grey or red stripe or maybe even something else.

I like these models and you are doing a great job. These are on my wish list but I have made a promise to myself to thin out the stash first.
