Looks like a fun project.
Rather you than me with that vacu-form stuff. Tried it once, it did not end well.

I think Billing's say somewhere the ideal total sailing weight of their boats. Otherwise its easy enough. In the bathtub and fill the EMPTY hull with water until it hits the waterline. Weigh the water needed then deduct the weight og the running gear and the deck with struckturs.

Been suffering from that virus we dont talk about, so not done much at all since the last. But this is Petes thread so we will leave it at that.

If the ground is that hard. dig out what you can and put som planks around the edge, then put plastic down.
You can plant flowers in it after lol

I need a jackhammer to dig the garden it's that hard being built on a field you have about 5 inches of decent top soil and then it's rock hard underneath
WELL Peter 5 inches is all you would need as your boat wont sit much more than about 3 inches on draught so no problem as my tiger draft is only about 4 inches an im sure your boat wont be nowhere near as heavy as my tiger
so you should be able to get away with it easy

Construction has begun jus fitting the base for the rc gear the forward bulkhead and wooden strips where the aft deck will fitIMG_20231209_100246.jpg
And drilling holes for the prop shafts and rudders
IMG_20231209_102740.jpg
And I have found this works well for sticking wood to plastic

Calypso and J-Y Cousteau bring me back to my youth and all those hours spent watching his TV documentaries and browsing through his Oceans Encyclopedia. :smiling:
I'll follow your endeavour with interest.
Sunday teatime I seem to remember, the fore runner to all underwater nature programs.
Watching build with nostalgia.
