Hi All

I visited The Flixton aircraft museum over the W/E as they had an open day. I took a few photos of the classic cars, bikes and static planes. They also had 'The Super Swing Band' playing all the glenn Miller classic tunes in the main hanger. There was a fly past of the B.B.M.F Dekota and as luck would have it two of the Hardwick WarBirds (Mustang and Stearman) flew over too. It was a great day with perfect weather. The photos are not in the order that I would have liked to have posted them as I'm still trying to work that one out.

Them things with wings are OK but the four and two wheeled stuff is rather stunning mate.

Any more piccies of the cars and bikes?

That's one nice Triumph Richard, I owned two BSA C15s' and a 1956 Norton19s back in my biking days but alas no digital photos as this was in the 80s I will see if I can find some of those paper things called photographs!. I did go to my wedding in Top Hat and Tails on a custom BSA A10 with a coffin fuel tank, hard tail, swept exhaust and high rise handle bars. I found these scanned photos I'm the one with the long beard if you didn't recognise me. I will see what other photos I've got from the Flixton day.

What a pair of brilliant pictures! I actually bought myself a film scanner a few years ago and finally got around to starting to scan my old negatives last time I was at home. It is a bit time consuming, something I don't have a great deal of at the moment, but very interesting to see all the old pictures again. I hope to get them all done eventually.

My Triumph I confess was purchased in a restored condition however, as you do with these things, I am constantly tinkering and makling it better all the time. One reason for buying it restored was that I want to ride it and I do whenever possible. The noise it makes thrashing it around country roads more than makes up for the bad brakes, poor handling and weak performance and still puts a grin on my face.

Richard I remember those days with fond memories. Both Gill and I road British bikes prior to having children, in fact Gill was still riding pillion on my 19s when she was heavily pregnant, which when you look back was a bit of a mad thing to do. The thing was we couldn't afford a car but once our eldest was born we managed to buy a beat up VW beetle which was maybe no safer than the bike. I did toy with the idea of buying a sidecar but it didn't come to anything. Here's a few more photos from flixton. I will try and find some photos of the Norton and BSA. I still have the original fuel cap from the Norton.
