HI Peter ive just gone through all that sanding on my tiger hull an oh you will have fun an earnt you goin to fill the porus wood holes with sandin sealer as its a lot easyier than fillin a little bit at a time with normal filler as all you do is brush it on like paint an it will come up a nice hard finish after sandin an havnt you got a eletric sander ?Just given the Hull a spray and I can now see how much work I have to do so it's going to be filler and sandpaper galore for the next couple of days, weeks, years etc etc View attachment 427822View attachment 427823
I don't have an electric sander but I think I best invest in one as it will come in handy for my victory.HI Peter ive just gone through all that sanding on my tiger hull an oh you will have fun an earnt you goin to fill the porus wood holes with sandin sealer as its a lot easyier than fillin a little bit at a time with normal filler as all you do is brush it on like paint an it will come up a nice hard finish after sandin an havnt you got a eletric sander as well.

HI Peter yes invest in a eletric sander as it makes easy work of sandin as i hate doin this but its got to be done with a mask an goggles for protection an sandin sealer can be obtained at a model shop that sells R/C planes as thats where i get mine from but as its so good its a tad exspensive but i bought a big litre tin for about 20 quid for my nimitz hull about 15 yrs ago an i used this on my tiger hull as it keeps for yrs in a tight tin but did you say you have painted the hull already as if you have then you cant use sanding sealer as its may attact the paint an then it will craze an mess up the hull so have you painted the hull ? as i said sandin sealer must be used only straight on the bare wood an not paintI don't have an electric sander but I think I best invest in one as it will come in handy for my victory.
And where do I find sanding sealer.
It needs another sand so as it's only one coat I hopefully can sand it back to bare wood againsandin sealer must be used only straight on the bare wood an not paint
YES Peter sand it back to bare wood an fill any large or deep dimples in the hull an get the hull reaonabley smooth then the sandin sealer can be used but take my advise an try it on a small area first where it wont be seen say the hull bottom an see what happens as if its ok it will look like water but come up hard an if ok then it needs to be lightly sanded down for a nice smooth finish like on my tiger hull an you can buy small tins of it as well as big like id did but mine has done three ship hulls so i got my moneys worth an make sure you wear a mask as it stinks to high heaven but the smell will go when its dry in a day or soIt needs another sand so as it's only one coat I hopefully can sand it back to bare wood again
