Not sure where to ask but i had a question about Tamiya manuels. They are mostly in japanese and have confusing paint schemes such as XF-3:2+ or XF-3:2+ FX-5:1. These are very confusing, anyone know what they mean? Heres a quick link to a manuel online as a visual.

Thanks

The instructions being in Japanese is due to your local hobby shop is buying from Japan and not the US Importers..

The XF -bit refers to Tamiya paint colour codes.

Sorry, I forgot to mention i understand the paint numbes what I don't understand is XF-3:2+ or XF-3:2+ FX-5:1. Are they ratios?

For example I know XF3 is yellow but why do they add "-" to make XF-3 and what is the :2 for? Which end up making confusing codes such as

XF-3:2+ FX-5:1

Yes, they are ratios. They will give you what Tamiya considers the correct colour from their paints.

Like Steve says, they're the ratios for mixing their paints.

XF-3:2 + FX-5:1 means two parts of XF-3 and one part of FX-5
