The only reason I can think of in regards to the clear plastic for the aircraft is for those who suffer from extreme AMS and want clear canopies on 1/700 aircraft.Hi
Ron - compressed air cylinders sounds right. I have just watched a YouTube video from 1940 on catapult launching and recovery - most interesting. The power was either compressed air or an explosive charge - I think they said cordite.
Paul and Steve - thanks guys
Hannants order arrived. As always first class service from them although I find their website difficult to navigate. Little planes are in clear plastic - why I don't know.

They come 12 in a packet so if anyone needs a 1/700 Walrus I'm your man
To make up the minimum order I added these. I have bigger ants in the garden!! At least they are pre-coloured

Hi all
John - the details on the Trumpeter kit are good OOB. It is one of their later offerings.
Allen - perhaps lost my marbles a while ago according to the missus. Mind you I don't think many of us in this hobby are totally sane. Your V2 dio is brilliant but you'd have to have a few slates loose to tackle that
Scottie and Richard - always a boost to get positive feedback from modellers whose work inspires
Steve - thanks for the photos. I have seen some before but not others. The second to last photo of the Walrus set me thinking. My Walrus didn't look right and then it dawned on me - I had left the wheels on So out with the clippers and a paint touch up

I then spent a silly amount of time on the lower part of the main mast. Just so fiddly. A lot more to add but the crane was the bit that was worrying me most
