Well it was a bit of a fight but got there in the end. Ring side seats here: https://www.scale-models.co.uk/threads/ian-ms-austin-k2-y-ambulance-gecko-1-35.41098/
My first Gecko models kit. Lots more parts than there ever needs to be in a kit. Scale size is good except when we start on steering links, mirror arms, suspension parts and the like.
The chassis is a build it up type and any, as in ANY micro error in the flat/square balance will bite you later.
Having said all that the detail is rather good and 'generally' the fit is very good. Almost to good in places! (see comment above).
The PE parts are silly and most could have been plastic IMHO.
The place I had most trouble was fitting the engine cover. The Front wings/wheel-arches are where they should be: on the alignment pegs in the ladder frame. As is the Drivers cab and the 'cargo' compartment. Regardless the top cover and the side panels that make up the hood. Meh. not so much. I put it down to one of two things. Either the ladder frame is out of whack or the kit is one of them there "who would build it closed with all this loverly engine detail" kits. Thusly never intended to bo put in closed! We will guess the prior of the to though.
ALL the paint is Vallejo Model air: Engine is Duck egg blue no2, tyres lol. tyre black. Metalwork and wooded bits Medium brown which is an OK match for SCC2 the canvas bits RAF Dark Earth. Khaki for the 'doors'- lol.
Anyway 'nuff waffle:

The decals by the way are some of the best I have used in a loooong time. Thin, soft and tough! Also opaque. the White hides all and any hit of underlaying colour.
(See Tamiya it can be done)

Will this be my last Gecko models model. Nope. Have at least one in the stash and maybe another on the way...

One last thing- All the colour guessers that can see a B/W photo and say with 100% certainty that the real colour is.....

That is an excellent result Ian. It's good that Gecko strive for excellence detail but, like some other manufacturers, a high parts count, with so many tiny parts, is not the best solution. I suppose the high number of parts looks good on the box. Well done Sir.

Very nice model, having built Gecko models before I can understand your frustration with the PE and small parts but you have made a splendid job of it.

Andy.
