Japanese Weathering Trial

Hi all,

I've never posted on this forum before but I've just finished a Mitsubishi Zero A6M3/3a Tamiya kit which I chose to try out weathering techniques as these old Japanese aircraft got into horrendous condition by the later years of the Second World War.

Please let me know what you think of the result - I'm not sure what to make of it myself but I think it's reasonably effective. I painted the chips by hand, the camoflage with a basic airbrush and Tamiya paints, and then used promodeller's wash as wells as some inks to weather the kit further...

Here is a link to some pictures and footage of the model:

Thanks all!

Morning Rifledude. Aplogies not having your christian name.

I wonder if you could post some stills on the site. Like to look a your technique & learn from it.

Hope you go on posting here with your obvious talent.

I like the wear effect Rifle you have on the tail plane area looks really well.

I had also noticed the awful state some of the Japanese planes were in towards the end of the war. Compared to the German plnes & they were in the same position they look rough. Just wonder what there servicing was like.
