Hi all,

Please could I have your expert advice.

Q1...what liquid masking would you recommend?
I've got a 1/16 scale Sherman coming to add to my stash and it's got clear plastic periscope windows that'll need masking before airbrushing the turret etc.

Q2...what glue would you recommend for gluing transparent plastic parts.
I'm in the middle of building my Tamiya Willys Jeep and the windscreen and headlight lenses will need gluing in, plus all the transparent parts on the Sherman.

Liquid masking and glue from Scale Model Shop if possible.

Regards, Chris.

Maskol from Humbrol or equivalent from the likes of mig. For glazing on a periscope lens the edge might be a harder straight line so perhaps masking tape instead.
For clear canopies I use Deluxe Material glue n glaze but there are many different products, even plain ordinary PVA glue.

Q1:
Agree with Rick: Maskol for most jobs. Maskol
My other favourite is Micro Mask. Once dry, this can be cut with a (new) scalpel blade. It does work.

Q2:
My go-to is Kristal Klear. You generally have to leave it to dry overnight. It can be smoothed easily, as soon as it has been applied, with a wet cotton bud or finger. It dries clear. I like this stuff because it has a degree of "rubberiness" to it so it is tolerant of knocks.
