Modern US Military vehicles, undercoat?

As I can't model right now due to an operation to remove skin cancer right next to my right eye I thought I'd do a little research on an upcoming build.

I have Mengs Cougar to do later this year, now most pictures I've seen are showing it near perfect condition but I'd like to add some chipping maybe a prang or two :smiling3:

So, could someone tell me if there is a different colour primer base coat on US vehicles and what colour it might be? I'm guessing that they start with some form of metal, prime it then paint it for operations?

Thanks

Adrian

Hope the op goes well Adrian

Not sure of the actual colour but the following link may be of interest, not read it all so it may be of no help at all. In fact, you may already know of it.
