More Black and white

Have read Alan 45's post regarding changing things to black and white I thought I would have a go using Gimp 2 an open source (free) graphics programme.

I used an the Airfix Mig15 which I had been trying out different shadings of metal on. First some color shots holding it on a stiff bit of wire against the sky then using the programme to wipe out the support.

Then the same shots using the decor filter to give a sepia slightly out of focus look

And last just straight black and white shots.

And last just straight black and white shots.

I was quite pleased with the way it all turned out, although if you look closely especially in the colour photo's you can see where I have erased the support. Needs a bit of practice I think. I used the airbrush function on about 15% opacity to get a bit of exhaust haze.

That came out nicely Barry. I've played with Gimp 2 as well, it's not very easy to use I found but has some very nice effects.
