Been scratching my head for something thick, sticky and pliable to use as a scribing guide.
Then spotted a roll of "Helicopter tape" (search on eBay) in my bike tool box. Worked a treat when cut into a thin strip and used carefully.
Dymo tape is probably cheaper for all I know but if you have any of this stuff lying around...
