For a while now I just seemed to have lost my mojo and could not be bothered with anything, models, bikes or anything else for that matter. However, I got back to the loft yesteday and started to get on with the Caterpillar sixty but it was not to be as it is a bit fiddly so I laid it aside and dug out this.

I mean, it's only got 57 parts so how hard can it be?

I got it at a decent price as the box was a bit bashed but only 2 parts were broken, nothing serious just the steering wheel and a clip on the cab bottom which can be fixed no problem. Should be an easy build unless I get carried away with the painting but I really think it will be built out of the box.
No idea why the picture frames have a ragged edge on the inside, must have a look at that.
Andy.

Andy I’ll be following along. I built this as a teenager and built one a couple years ago and now I’m on my second one with aftermarket decals. Here’s a pic of mine I built a couple years ago I used real rubber tires for the front. You will enjoy building this kit. I’m almost done with my other one. 3698DC8F-F1DE-4229-A822-9EA0F1706F3A.jpeg5C73BD08-D4B1-4EA0-8E8E-E3A28E354EFD.jpeg

Been too cold in the attic of late but today was a balmy 10 degrees centigrade so able to do a wee bit more.

Basic chassis built and primed and the fuel tanks put together although looking at them I may strip the chrome and paint them as they do not look to good.

Making better progress with this than the crawler but it only has a few parts.
Cab done in metallic brown on a gloss black base coat although it looks more like a shade of copper to me.

Mudflaps, mudguards and air filter housing.

Tomorrow I will gloss the cab and paint the window rubbers, a job that I really hate doing as it's so easy to get it wrong at least once.

Love the color Andy. Kenworth actually had this color in the 1980s it was a Limited Edition Golden nugget. I got the privilege to drive one of these around 1992 the guy was behind on his truck payments and was needing help to driving one week he was exhausted from driving so I teamed with him one week. He ask the guy I was driving for at the time if he could use me my boss said sure so I drove with him all that week cross country. Here a pic of the truck I drove. This is the guy who owned it and his stepson working it. Hope to see more updates 40D45FBB-E5C9-4489-9C4E-D21F3C8F4786.jpeg

Nice that you could help out a fellow trucker Lee. It is a beauty of a rig and I'm sure you felt like a million bucks behind the wheel. :thumb2:

Almost there now.
52657426845_01a2120431_b.jpg

A waste of time painting the inside as you can hardly see it from outside.
52657426740_06eb6e0a7d_b.jpg

Off to put it all together now, next pictures will be in the completed section.
