It's been awhile since I posted a build thread, so I thought you might enjoy seeing how I manage to get a nonexistant model from two existing models.......does not seem very economical but necessity has become the mother of invention in 1-87 scale. I started with a Wiking Mercedes Benz 10000 and a Wiking Krupp Titan. As in the photo only the cab and frame (cut just behind the running board) of the 10000 will be used. The frame and bed (cut just behind the running board) of the Krupp will finish out the roughed in assembly. In the mating of these two parts the scale wheel base of 16'3/4'' is achieved. Q&C's welcome. Rick H.P1011963.JPGP1011964.JPGP1011965.JPG

Thanks Paul, a simple conversion with a miter box. Takes about 20 minutes if you keep 'em square they join up nicely with a tie plate on top of the two halves to give 'em strength. Thanks for stopping by, Rick H.

Looks like you found 'em Lee! ;) Rick H.
Yes there they are you might have been fine tuning them when I was looking. Very nice just pulled up a chair looking for JR and keeping a eye on Andrew. I’ve heard JR is giving him lessons in pyrotechnics. Lol.

As with all my large trucks I replace the kit wheels with the Herpa "Trilex" wheels with Continental tires to make it a little more accurate. The molded in exhaust was replaced and clearance markers installed as on the original truck......the molded in toylike tow hook was also replaced. Scratched up a couple of storage boxes added a fuel filler "neck" stuck on front and rear number plates and added a tail light as well as opening up the headlight buckets for light lenses. The small discs on the clearance marker masts are the driver's mirrors.....I punched these out of foil. Once I get a wiper installed it should be ready for some paint.P1011975.JPGP1011978.JPGP1011979.JPG
