Help please.
I want to do the HMS. KGV,
I want the model to be approximately 3’ (1mtr) long but I can’t work out the scale properly, maths was never my subject as being mischievous was my specialty.
The reason I want it that size is it’s for my father who was on the ship from 1941-46.
Also is there any extras that I can’t put on it for that era?
Cheers. Steve.

HMS King George V was 227m long. A 1/200 scale model would be 1.135m long and a 1/350 scale model would be 0.65m long. I am sure that kits and aftermarket stuff would be much more readily available for 1/350 scale.

Steve.
I've built the Tamiya 1/350 KG5 and recommend it.

Keep in mind though, she went through quite a few re-fits and re-painting, particularly before she went to the Far East. It all depends on just when your dad served aboard her. If he was serving on her right through from 41/46, then any 'alterations' don't matter. He'd have seen them all.
She joined the Home Fleet in November 1940, so your dad must have served on her for all of WW2. That's amazing!

I look forward to the build.

Ron

The good thing is if you really want the 1metre version the 1/200 scale from Trumpeter has pretty much all the detail you need. If not enough there ARE LOADS of extras. Not as many as for the 1/350 kits, but does it need them?

Trumpeter 1/200 King George V? That's a new one to me!
