Hi all, used the forum to learn a lot lately so decided time to stump up for the learning! As with most here, modelled as a youngster then found other interests, was only after she buggered off I thought all the money I spent on her could have gotten me so many models!
Anyhoo, many many years later I picked up a couple of models and some bits n pieces to keep me occupied after illness stopped me working....as we all know that just leads to loads of money disappearing down the model shop!
I must confess I like the build more than the painting but I'm trying hard to do more on that side of it and I'm sure with the help and advice on here I'll get there!

Welcome to the best forum around. Many of us have a favourite part of the hobby. Some love the building, some the painting and weathering and some really enjoy the research. It's all part of this great hobby.

Welcome,
You will find this forum can be really helpfull with modelling problems that you will be sure to come across.
Painting - After a few years painting with acrylics I have decided to go back to lacquers (AK, Humbrol, S M S, MRP etc). And if you get into airbrushing save your money and go for a cheaper version (available from The Scale Model Shop) instead of getting into the minefield of the more expensive models which can come later. I have gone the reverse route and now use a £40 Chinese knockoff or wherever it comes from and for my airbrushing it satifies the job.
But you will again find loads of tips and helpfull information, please enjoy.
Mike.

Welcome to the forum Ritchie - as long as you're improving, who cares about the speed? Everybody builds & learns at their own pace. The main thing is enjoying the build. What's your area of interest? Personally I hop around ships, tanks, aircraft & figures have all been on the bench, although recently 3D printing models has taken up my time. Whatever you make, there'll be likeminded members...............

Pretty much the same as yourself Dave in that it's mostly military, air, land or sea but anything goes.
Currently have a 1.400 enterprise on the go, amongst other things to break up the monotony of all those tiny parts, but may have bitten off more than I can chew with this one!

Some of the things I've done so far in various stages/attempts at slight weathering. My loft is my workspace so have to be careful in what paints etc I use as ventilation is almost non-existent. Running out of space so the hard decisions will have to be made soon!
