Nice picture Peter. Thanks for posting it. Not quite the same as the one I'm doing but a nice looking loco.
As this will be a workhorse pulling stuff, the paintwork will hopefully reflect the conditions. Good excuse for what follows.............!
Here are the stage paintings of the loco and tender thus far. One more coat should see them done.
Tap water thinned Vallejo Model Air roughly painted on with a wide flat headed brush and allowed to run and gather where it wants.
The tender using the same painting method as the loco.
Some pre. shading, colour modulation (Whatever the heck that is but it sounds posh and dead clever!) and weathering, done as you roll along with just three coats of brushed on paint.
All hail the bristles...... Oops!
Final coat to follow.
