Does anyone have any experience of the above kits?

I am thinking of one of theirs for the Summer GB but have never heard of them.

Any info as to quality/ availability would be helpful.

Cheers

Never come across them myself but there are a few aircraft reviews at the IPMS review site Just click on the "All Aircraft" button on the lower left and scroll down to find them.

Hi Peter

Like Graham, I've never built a Special Hobby kit. I've done a bit of digging on the net and found this review of the Polikarpov i-16 1/32. I don't know what kit you've got in mind but this should give you some indication of how good/bad the mouldings are.

Large Scale Planes

Seems it's got some etch and resin parts and looks pretty good to me but I'm no expert.

I'm sorry I can't be of any more help.

Cross of Iron Summer GB

Thanks for the help gentlemen.

Spot on information as ever.

I am about to order a Special Hobbies Polikarpov I16 for the Summer GB

It seems a bit of an oddity about which you don't see a lot.

I suppose I'm following on from the Ta 152. Never one to follow the crowd!

Nothing like challenging yourself is there.....

I guessed right then?!!!

Great choice! You can't get more typically Russian looking than that aircraft.

Can't wait to see it built.

I went for the I16 because as has been said, it is the archetypal WW2 Russian a/c.

Also, I couldn't find anything by Lagg, Lavochkin, Petlyakov (fancied the Pe2) or early Mikoyan in 1/32.

Loads of Yak, which is why I didn't want one.

If anyone notices one of these I like to hear about it (for stashing!).

Ordered some figures as well because I have an idea (it's o.k., 4 hours in a darkened room with something Scottish helped me over that), so I may need to stretch my horizons into simple dio-land.

Peter

Cheers.
