Some beautiful builds there Nick. Looking forward to seeing more.
The Brough looks like a real bike...!Hi all, just joined the forum so thought I would say hello. Life-long model builder (with a few gaps!) and having a slightly more serious go at it now I'm semi retired. I taught myself CAD (and now CAM) so using this to make a few bits.
I'm focusing on 1/8th and 1/12th cars at the moment but my interests are many and varied including wooden ships, many, many aircraft (my first love) and plenty of stuff in between. Here's a taster
I did battle with the old 1/32 Tamiya F14 some years ago and disappeared down a rabbit hole correcting and detailing so never finished, here’s some old fotosHI again Nick my tomcat is a trumpy super tomcat but can i get away with doin it in jolly rogers colours ?
Hi Dave, I went down the FDM route myself as I was initially scared of resin. Honestly, and please don’t be offended, but don’t bother with FDM for modelling, get yourself a little elegoo Mars or similar and you wont look back.Nick,
a wide range of lovely models! Welcome to the forum - loads of friendly like-minded modellers. Any questions? - ask away - any tips? post them up.
I'm in the process of 'mastering' ( ha! ) 3D FDM printing, a time consuming process, which interferes with my benchtime
Dave

The stuff I get off my machines is at 20 microns resolution and indistinguishable from injection moulding in terms of surface finish and detail is well beyond anything mouldIng can achieve.
here’s a few straight out of the washer to give you an idea.
Just to push the boundaries here are some 1/12th scale instrument needles I printed recently
Fair point, it’s not nice stuff you’re quite right. you’re getting some great results with FDM looking at your thread in fairness, great work.Nick,
I live in a mid-floor flat, and the fumes & toxic resin, along with the post-processing & curing, is something that isn't really viable - if I had a garage, or shed, yes, I'd be resin printing. As it is, I'm working on the FDM!
Cheers Dave
Cheers Nick for the pics but why did you not finish the plane as if i build a kit then no matter how bad it is i will build it to completion so was your tomcat a trumpy kit ? an in my opinion your pics build look greatI did battle with the old 1/32 Tamiya F14 some years ago and disappeared down a rabbit hole correcting and detailing so never finished, here’s some old fotos
i didn’t have any modern kit then, so it’s all scratch built, even with a crack at (nasty) home-made photo etch!
Now I never said that, me and Terry Thomas go back a long way. I say! It’s alright fellah….I don’t think your a cad LOL…..
