Morning Peter

Looks good and all at a "normal" pace too.

Dry brushing is always a useful skill to bring out the small details.

Looks like a big day today with all that torso.

Have fun with the paints and family

John - Thank you. Still needs a bit of tweaking.

Steve - Morning. Three days to get this far - outrageous! Quite enjoying the slower pace actually. Good long walk around Bishopsbourne yesterday:

The stately pile is owned by the family of a certain well=known Moggy - bet they hate having public footpaths over their land. Should be able to make a start on the torso today.

Hi Peter
I really like him. I imagine that painting a beard is not easy to get to look natural - his looks very natural.

Looking good, I did think he was wearing a hoody, which seemed a little out of context, time wise, but its a cape!

Looks side an average 20 bedroom council house doesn't it!

Are those really cartridges on the front of the jacket?

I tried goggling it without success, but loads on Cossacks in general., even at your reduced pre Christmas pace.

Looks like it should keep you busy until next week

Hope the family are all settled in for the seasonal celebrations.

It will soon be Midwinter and longer days for painting, gradually anyway for a couple of months.

Enjoy the painting and whatever other distractions you get up to

Regards

Great to see you back on the busts. Not seen this one before. So impressed so far. Keep up the great work my friend

Morning Steve - The cartridges are purely decorative, being made of wood with silver tops. They were probably a vestige of real cartridges carried in the days of flintlock weapons. Ditto the cape - all part of the traditional costume. Should get him done today - been feeling pretty ill, plus the toddler is a mighty distraction, so hence the slower pace.

Stevie J - One of the few left on the Historex lists and still at a bargain price.

I've managed to finish him:

The tunic and shoulder boards today. I painted the tunic with shades of Luftwaffe Uniform (forgot to mention earlier that the cape was painted with Military Blue, considerably lightened), and used Old Gold, Gold and Silver on the shoulder boards. I then gave the whole thing a coat of Daler Rowney Soluble Matt Varnish, gave the belt a coat of satin varnish, and finally picked out the gold with gloss varnish.

Morning Peter

Hopefully you are getting over the the hypo from earlier this week?

Thanks for the update on the bits and pieces and well done on another super bust.

Whatever next and will you finish before the 25th?

Shame there isn't something seasonal and 1;10 or 1;16 for you to get into the spirit of the season.

I need to try and do some sculpting on the figures this weekend.

It looks like a milder day and a little more light too.

Have fun with the family and your new victim

Andy -Thank you.

Steve - The hyper was a big one on top of a 'flu-like virus, so feeling quite unwell still. I haven't been well all year after my bout of Covid(?) and really I need a thorough check up. However, it's almost impossible to see a doctor at present, so it's a case of grinning and bearing it. A seasonal model would be an added pain at the moment (bit of a Bah, Humbug type anyway).

Next up, another go at ICMs 1/16 Centurion figure, which I failed with the first time around. Hope you get some sculpting done.
