Heres a couple of detail pics of the bike i started a couple of days ago. Some of the paint textures look a little grainy on camera but they were taken under a very strong downlight and are actually much flatter in reality.

For the rear brake disc (not yet finished) i used an 0.35mm drill bit and drilled out all the ventilation holes and a slightly larger bit to drill out the centres of the fasteners that attach the disc to the hub.

picture 2 is the rear brake cylinder that is molded as part of the frame.

the handlebars have very fine gauge wire (Hobbycraft) to emulate the lockwires on race bikes.

Theres an assortment of other parts in the pic including front brake calipers, fuel cap etc.

Any feedback or advice gratefully appreciated.

Looking good mate. Have you just gone into your local model shop and emptied the shelves of Tammy bikes?

heres the exhaust. i should have stopped painting a bit earlier than i did but im fairly pleased with the results.

the base coat was humbrol polished aluminium (metalcote) which ive never used before. i think i left it too long before i polished it as it didnt make any difference. Still, you live and learn. I'll be using this product again though on my next build if i dont opt for Alclad stainless steel.

thanks for the compliments lads.

Heres a couple of extra pics. Im waiting on a set of Gauloises decals hence the tail is semi completed. I'd say the bike is about 85& finished now, a few snagging jobs, decals and a few final assembly parts.

im really pleased with how the paint has turned out on this model. Its very flat and has a good deep sparkle. There must be 5 coats of clear on the panels at the moment!

Ive 'carbon fibred' the instrument display and exhaust hanger with decal sheeting, and also sprayed the airbox and rear hugger to simulate carbon. Next time, i'll prob decal these, although the rear huggers are a real pain due to the contours.

Done and Dusted!

Finished the model earlier today so heres a few of the completed pics. you cant see all of the detail due to the lighting (might post some clearer ones in the morning).

ive added quite a few carbond details to this build and some other touches that im happy with..such as the wire around the grips and changing the decal set to the proper 'Gauloises' logo instead of the Go!!!!!! logo they used for just a couple of races dut to tobacco sponsorship regulations.

Final pics are of both the 04 and 05 bikes.

Anyway, i hope youve found the build of interest.

ive seen the quality of your builds trey so thats high praise. many thanks mate. my builds are gradually improving. Now its time for me to raise my game and the next build will have a few PE parts..its baby steps and a lot of mistakes and patience!
