At a loose end waiting for delivery of pigments and washes to finish the Grad I dug this out from under the bench to have a better look.

There are 12 sprues and one of clear parts.

And there are a LOT of VERY small parts.

Well, seeing as I have taken the spues out of the plastic bags and that will have detracted from the second hand value of the kit so I had best get on and build it. Being the sad old git that I am I looked through the instructions and counted over 180 parts in the turret alone so this may take some time.

Sounds like it should keep you off the streets and out of trouble for a while Andy.

You reading this Gary (Olivetti20)? A parts count like that sounds just right for you!

Another chance to stretch your boundaries with camo schemes. Looks a craking kit. Good luck!

Well, this is not going to be a quick build but it is very interesting with all the small bits to build up into units before fitting them to the turret. Only problem with tiny parts is they have a habit of vanishing into the ether, well that's my excuse. I have managed to misplace a couple of parts but as luck woud have it I found some grey plastic in the spares box and I was able to scratch build the missing bits and unless you had built one before you would never know.

I have spent a few hours working on the turret and have only fitted about 65 bits, so a fair bit to go before starting on the hull.

Good luck with the build. That's a lot of parts just for the turret!

These Zvezda T90 kits are really very nice to build - I made the base T90 a few years ago, and the detail is really quite outstanding. A clever way of doing the tracks too. Will watch this with interest!

Looking good so far.
Old tip, if the bits are vanishing when cutting them off the sprue - cut them off inside the bag they came in.

Good tip, but it's the parts escaping from the tweezers that gets me but I will just have to be more careful.

Well, that's the turret done at last and when this is finished I think I may go through the instruction sheet and count the parts 'cos there is a lot of them.

I have made a start on the hull trying to get all the little easy bits done and I found something I really do not like. Zvezda have included in the kit 2 different sized bits of nylon mesh for the radiator grilles on the rear but they might as well given me a box of weasels as this stuff is just a nightmare to try and work with so I have given up for the night.

Yes, that’s the only thing I didn’t like about the Zvezda kit was that awful nylon mesh. I bought the Tetra models PE mesh grilles for it instead (under a tenner, if I recall). Turret is looking very good Andy:thumb2:

Thanks for the comment, I wish I had known about that mesh before I started the kit as I am too far down the road to stop and wait now.

Andy,
the T-90MS is in my pending pile, total parts count is 459, according to Zvezda, that's even without individual track links! Oddly enough I don't have problems with the nylon mesh in Zvezda kits - I made the standard T90 a few years ago - I use normal CA. It is 3 dimensional, which looks better than etched PE in these cases ( not fancy mesh, just radiator grill type stuff )
What finish are you going for - parade? , or 3-colour camo?

Dave, in all honesty the mesh does not look too bad it's just that I find it hard to work with, but perhaps that is just me and my thick fingers. I am going with the 3 colour camo as I need the painting practise and having had a look I can not find any pics of the tank in the parade green.

There is a lot going on, on the turret. Must have been very satisfying once you had finished it. Good luck with the hull.

Thanks Steve, the hull is coming along nicely, all fitting together well which is to be expected from Zvezda nowadays.

At the rate I am going I will run out of models before this lockdown is over, do not usually spend so much time indoors so I had best have a look on Ebay and decide what is next.

That is it ready for paint now, been quite a build with lots of small detail parts but very enjoyable none the less. Now I have some fiddly 3 colour camo masking to look forward to, deep joy. ;)

Nice to see the paint production line is well under way. Are you going for hard lined camo or airbrushed freehand??
