Scottie,
Pre shade good,
Scratch building - no problems there.
Locker details - excellent.
Gun cradle - superb.
Putting yourself down - stop it.
A lot of great work put into a basic model to bring it from average to show/museum standard. Now let's see the paint go down....

Mike,
Mike,
Thank you mate, I don't put myself down on purpose or to get sympathy posts, but I genuinely look at what I have done and don't think it is ok or as I saw it in my mind.

I an happy with the paint no creep between the colours. The instructions confused me a bit as to where the colours should go. One view showed the colour on one surface then another view it seemed to be on another. So I used it as a rough guide and hopefully it passes as Caunter. The body is dry fitted to check the result as the parts were sprayed separately .

That was very nice masking, there.

The official instructions frequently had that same problem. As those didn’t supply patterns for every individual vehicle, painters were expected to select one close in shape to what they were actually painting and adapt as necessary. In other words: unless you really screw it up, you can’t get it absolutely wrong.

However:smiling3: The lines in the Caunter scheme should converge to a single point at the front and one at the rear, and the scheme wasn’t left–right symmetrical like you have it here. Still, like I said, much of it was up to how the painters interpreted and adapted the drawings, so it’s not implausible.

Caunter schemes? Yeah, what Jakko said.
They're SUPPOSED to be assymetric, but most of the layouts officially issued only had front, back and left side elevations and a plan view. Almost as often when there are drawings of two sides they don't match to the overhead view - and there aren't many photos of different sides of the same vehicle to see what actually happened.
One of the official instructions does say something to the effect of 'start with the side and work from there'
So, you could have a guy standing next to it scratching his head saying 'But that's what you told me to do!'

That’s quoted in Mike Starmer’s book on the subject:
34. Method
Draw outline of disruptive design on side of the vehicle with chalk. (Get right proportions.)
Repeat process on top, front, remaining side and rear of vehicle in order named.
That, apparently, was the extent of the instructions for transferring the drawings to an actual vehicle.

Great job Paul, even if the paint is not exactly right it still looks the bees knees.

The paint looks good to me Paul, most army vehicles are painted by a squaddy who doesn't want the job anyway.....
The detailing is nice, the gun mount is excellent.
