Against my better judgement, my current project to get the painting vibe fired up again
this is the victim of my painting or will be soon enough

Hopefully more soon once I have the photos all in the right place

Next step already
As all my photos are on.my mobile, it's an attempt to load them from my phoneIMG_20190428_115039.jpg

Has it worked?

And for motivation, these are on my desk, watching my progress

IMG_20190417_183340.jpg

Sorry Peter, but they are so good they deserve a 2nd showing.

If this had worked there will be more tomorrow

Regards

So pleased that you've decided to post this Steve. It looks like a very nice bust indeed.

Looks like a very nice sculpt. Look forward to seeing how this comes together. With Peters busts by your side you can't go wrong. Good luck

More of a response that I expected!
If today had been scripted by Michael McIntyre, it couldn't have been any more comic or tragic!
At 6am I found the cat flap smashed into pieces, local wanders must have been partying and it got out of hand! £22 for another flap!
Started painting.
At 08:15 called Dr's for a simple medication review, told they'll call back before 1pm.
Kept pottering with the paint and it's getting going, at 10:26 Hermes have delivered a parcel, E-mail photo of hand pushing a parcel through someone else's letter box!
Mine is black, the photo was of a gold flap!
After 15 minutes on the Hermes web site, no number to call them, so I tried the web chat out of desperation.
That's 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back!
They asked me, if I knew where the agent had posted my parcel??
Could I check all the houses on the street??
NO, call the b!00dy courier!
Finally, we will get back to you in the next 28 hours!
Then the Dr ran back, god bless new young over zealous fresh Dr's
No, can't have the lidocaine patch as your surgeon hasn't advised us that you need your other knee replacing!
I'll prescribe you paracetamol,
I'm currently on 120mgs of cocodamol a day!
Oh no, we'll have to stop that!
WTF!
That conversation ended unhappily.
Sort of lost the motivation to paint after my follow up call to British Airways and my lost 500,000 air miles!
How can so many people, create so much confusion, with no real effort at all.

The head and body are started but I needed a bigger palette, a larger rectangular lid from gogonzola rather than the smaller. 450g yogurt lid.
Here they are anyway, work in progress,
I am seriously a really chaotic painter

Morning
Thanks for the comments
The head is being very illusive and has been dipped and stripped 3 times.
I now remember why I haven't painted a head for 2 years.
Some progress shots, the body and helmet are complete, just need little blending for the final finish
If I can paint Field Grey, why can I paint a flesh?

I need to crack this or I'll probably never paint another figure!
More by the end of the week
Thanks for popping by

Hi Steve.
I have won this figure bust recently on e.bay to put away for a rainy day.Think you are doing a great job.I havent painted for over 2 years as my time is spent learning to sculpt properly.Hope you get our man finished and its not too stressful.
All the best from Richard

He's coming along nicely Steve.

If I may offer some advice on the head, I would urge that you get the details in fairly early; eyes, eyebrows, lips etc, then worry about the skin tones after. That way, you've got the focal points established and the flesh tones can be built up around them.

Sound advice Peter. After a two year lay off that's some awesome work. It certainly is three times lucky as far as the head goes. I admire your tenacity to get it right. Much more to do now??

Firstly apologies Steve for missing this , so the customary read through from the start.
Brilliant work for someone who hasn't painted a figure for that length of time, love the uniform work ,and the Buddha in the back ground will look after you .
Very tidy looking bench , how do you people keep it like it ?

What a start to the day part was the thing that would make most people just go back to bed and start again.I had to laugh at your description of the Fedex attempted delivery.

I had a similar evening yesterday, in am attempt to pay my SA tax I went on line, filled in all the information, entered all my debit card stuff and was promptly told by Visa my address was wrong. Of course at this point in the proceedings I lost it.
Bloody bank I shouted, we've lived here for 47 years.
, Mrs Race was soon on the scene, " they can't hear you , but I can ! "
Needless to say at this point before I was injured I gave up, this morning having spoken to the bank all is well. NO one knows why this happened.
John.

John.

I paid my Corporation Tax over the phone this year and had to go through 5 minutes of security checks with HMRC to make sure it was me who was paying my own Corporation Tax bill. At the end I said to the guy if anyone ever phones you up trying to impersonate me and pay my tax bill, then just let them do it please. :smiling: :smiling5:
