Righto guys, need some ideas from you.

Originally, the idea I had was to chop away the keel and some of the lower hull and have her sat on a base with silt/mud and rust etc.

As it turns out, this is not practical, mainly because she is starting to weigh a lot due to sand/dust scree mix. And, she is a pain to move around now so a stand has been made in wood,

A plaque will be fitted but, do I spray the wood in grey or black, do I attempt to plasticard it and then add some small rivets?

And thoughts welcome fellas.

I could see a few of my fellow 'Rum Ration' colleagues going into raptures over those S/M's. You have a skill my friend.

Very kind of you mate, thank you. Glad you like them.

Update.

Coatings all applied.

When dry a primer coat will added to seal the surface.

I can't help you with your question crusty Si, but she is looking fantastic and I (kinda) knew she was going to gain some weight too!!! Great stuff, but then again, your Untersee boat wrecks were so cool too, Sir...

Ta Allen, once the primers on, that will hold everything together and hopefully, will not have any stuff dropping off all over the place. Not done anything this large using this technique.

A quick question Si, Are you using white glue to put the crusty's on and then spraying white glue over it to hold it in place? Or are you doing it another way?

I use undiluted PVA, brush on and pour, chuck the stuff on. I find that I do not need to apply a second coat of glue over the top as it gets a primer coat, this will seal the gunk in place.

Superb stuff Si. The star turn in one of my favourite war films. Very realistic crusty work on a film icon. You could have entered this in the current GB you know ;)

You know something Tim, I totally forgot about it. To be honest, I do not tend to go in for the group/themed builds, mainly due to my disability-time scale and how they may turn out.

Chuffed like the crusty so far.

No problem Si. You play with what you want, when you want, and how you want. I’ll just sit here cheering you on mate :thumb2:

UPDATE:

She has now got some colour and the first round of weathering, come of the colours look harsh due to the flash.

Mixture of airbrush, sponging, dry brushing and pigments.

There is a load more to add to tone and blend.
