so pleased your liking it so far,Ian,Nice work Monica it's looking good. I forgot to say that I really like the film Kick Ass.
hi,Richard ,there is a lot of clays like, premol, wimo, and so on,that do need to be baked,I,m not so sure if your real meant to do it that way,Its progressing well Monica. Did you say your material needs baking? So it's add a little and bake and so on. I think that's rather good in a way. Rome wasn't built in a day as the saying goes.
Cheers,
Richard

ta,Jim ,so glad your liking her, so far,a few things not so happy with, but will try and repair or fix,Hi Monica
You're are doing a fine job. No rush - this will take time. As you say it is all a learning curve.

hello,Simon ,thank you so much for the advice and help,I was using some water, but did still stick,I,have ordered some tools of evilbay .,so wailing on them,Hi Monica - looks like you maybe had a bit of trouble with the green stuff. The surface is all rough and not very well defined
A tip I was given a few years ago when I started using Duro was to mix it up as normal but then rub a very small amount of vaseline on the surface - a little goes a long way. That way you don't stick to it and your sculpting tools don't stick to it either
You can smooth the surface with a finger or rubber ended sculpting tool and get a really glass like smooth surface
Once you have the basic shape smoothed down you can then start to work in the detail like creases and the fingers using appropriate tools - wiping the tools with a little smear of vaseline as well will also help
Once set, wipe the Duro down with a bit of lighter fluid to remove the vaseline before adding detail on top and definitely before painting
If you don't remove the vaseline then additional layers of detailing may pull away - this can actually be useful though
On the cartoon style Russian soldier girl I made I left the vaseline on - once completed I could pull her apart into component pieces ready for casting
hello,Richard ,yes good advice, and that my whole plan as well, and wont this to be some fun as welll, and who know,s maybe even get some what good at it,;lol, hoping,Better to take your time and rework areas that you're not happy with until satisfied. If you're not working to a deadline then it becomes fun.
Cheers,
Richard
