Hit a bit of a snag.

96EF196A-423C-4F5F-AE82-5C7D04F408AB.jpeg

The decals are rather brittle and have decided they don’t like water :rolling:

I had hoped to have it mostly done this week but as I didn’t have any suitable spares I am waiting for a replacement set to arrive.

Geoff.

Geoff!!
That's a shame, happens to us all at some point though
Just a quick point if I may..... If you have a minor disaster requiring replacement bits, it's worth giving it some air on here..... Someone can normally help, saving you needing to buy a complete pack of stuff with lots of items that you don't need!!
For example,I have several of those roundels that you need that I could have sent you ;)

And sometimes, they do that, just because they can !

Quick update.

The new decals have arrived and have all been put into place apart from the tail flashes.

The starboard side V also decided to disintegrate so I have replaced it with some strips of white decal from the spares box.

I’ve only added a few of the more important stencils as from what I understand the aircraft were painted when operational so I imagine some of them may not have been replaced. I might be completely wrong but in my defence the fee photos I have seen do not show any obvious stencils (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it  :smiling5:)

I’m also repainting the canopy as I wasn’t very pleased with how it turned out.

So here’s how it’s looking now.

Well Geoff I've just had a catch up. Coming on a treat and I do like the colour. Shame the decals were useless but as has been said we've all been there. The replacements look nice.

Thank you Jim, Rick, Andy, Colin, Andrew and Tim, your comments are very much appreciated :thumb2: :smiling4:

It’s at what I think of as the dangerous stage now, the stage when a model is starting to look good and the finish is in sight but still with enough to be done to mess it up :tears-of-joy:

Hello Chaps,

Well with a only a couple of days to go before the end of the GB I’ve finally managed to drag this one over the line :smiling4:

After the last update I added the fin flashes and it then had a all over coat of Vallejo semi gloss varnish to seal everything in before weathering.

The weathering has been done using mainly Abteilung 502 oils, ABT005 Smoke, ABT003 Dust & ABT510 Starship Filth but I also used a drop of AK 2039 Kerosene Leaks wash with a dusting of Vallejo Pigment 73.109 Natural Umber.

After the weather was completed the undercarriage and small parts were added.
Finally the camera port on the fuselage side was filled with a dab of crystal clear and the canopy added and VOILÀ! done :smiling3:

So here it is:

The weathering looks heavier in the pictures than for real.
I will post in the finished section later with some better pictures.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments during the build, thanks for looking :thumb2:

Geoff.

That's a nice finish Geof. Am about to start a 1/72 Revell kit for a friends brother. Using same techniques from the 1/32 one that's still in WIP. Could never finish anything within a GB timeline. :smiling3:

Cheers,
Richard
