From this next pic you'll see that i have cut the lollipop sticks out to a rough length ready for the end bits to be fitted. Those end bits have just been made out of the twig you see above. Took about an hour to cut and sand to required dimensions but it was free wood and a little exercise for my bingo wings. Now to sand/cut the 'planks' to the required length then glue in place :smiling3:

Looking good Alan .

Flowers look good and certainly add another dimension to the dio. Watching with interest esp the trees with the seafoam .

Cheers guys. Not quite up to the standards of Ron's and Richard's dios but i'm slowly getting there lol. Using Ron's philosophy of 'free is best'. Trying to utilise locally found items around my cottage. Some things i have to buy but this dio is hopefully going to get some use, so i'll need to be as realistic as i can make it.

A good source for "trees" is a well cut hedgerow. Lot's of varied growth in a short length. Dried dead flowers from a butterfly bush make OK conifer trees.
If you need reeds and rushes, have a look in the shed for an old knackered natural hair paint brush.

Never thought making a tree would be stressful. But trying to add 'branches' in a realistic pose is a slow and stressful. Still it's actually starting to look a little like a tree now
