Finished this at last. I'm still not happy with the over-scale bar armour, but it's a better model with than without I think.

Not a bad kit to build, but needs a lot of forward thinking and planning, which I'm not good at, and a few of the locating pins are a bit too big for their holes.
I sacrificed one of the short rear aerials to the carpet monster so had to make one out of a piece of sprue, chucked in a dremel and sanded down to somewhere near the right thickness. Then I lost half the decals!

Hi Pete
That is a really nice model. The armour looks fine despite the moulding limitations resulting in it being a bit over scale. I enjoyed the build.

Thanks for the kind comments chaps, much appreciated. Paul, go for it, it was a nice kit to build. If I hadn't seen real bar armour on a Scimitar at the Tanks, Trucks and Firepower show I'd have been a lot happier with the kit armour.
I've been feeling there was something missing, but then I realised I'd weathered the inside but forgotten the dust on the outside! All the photos of them in Afghanistan show a lot of dust, so it's now had a good dose of Flory Sand Wash. If that looks OK when fully dry I'll take some more pics tomorrow, weather (and garden duties) permitting.

Peter very nice, you might have realised the bar armour was too thick but I certainly didn't.

It was looking nice to start with, but a layer of dust, really 'wakes' the build up.

Pete,
Really great build and finish. OK the bar armour is far too thick, but after all it is in 1/48, and is aimed at the mass market. Well done, it could sit in my case happily..
Mike.
