Andy - Thank you. Why not give it a go?
One day Peter I will have a go as I have at least one 1/35 figure lying about left over from some kit or other so really nothing to lose.

Andy.

Morning Peter

Great work on the bits and pieces so far.

After your comments about stippled wool texture, I did have a web search too.

I can't say I found anything that was way above your work at all, they all seemed, at best, to only be as good, but I might not of found the one you did?

Perhaps try stippling a texture on a scrap figure to see if it is worth the extra effort?

Looks like the finishing line is in reach and then the search for the next victim

Have a good day with the MG

Morning Steve

Glad you like how he's going. Stippled wool would drive me mad and is definitely not why I do this stuff. The example I've seen is exquisite though - the modeller has added a new head and pared down all of the lumpy detail. I can't copy pictures of it to here as it's on a private site. I'm happy with the way this one is going though. I should get him finished today.

Steve and Andy - Thanks for looking in.

He's now finished:

Today's session involved the painting and attaching of the tool pouch, holster, grenade and the MG42. A strap was then made for the latter, then the greatcoat was weathered with pastels.

Hi Peter
Very nice. Most definitely worthy of its space in the cabinet.

Great job Peter! Don't fall into the comparison trap - comparison eats contentment for breakfast! You've done a fantastic job on him and hopefully enjoyed doing it in the meantime. Let that be it! I have Mike Butler's work on my shelves and I will never get my figures to look like his. We each have our own style and should celebrate who we are. What you do brings pleasure to lots of us who watch you. Just aim to enjoy doing it!

Many thanks chaps. Glad you like him.

Andy - I know, I know, but to improve we need to look at what our betters are doing. The chap I've mentioned achieved a very subtle finish with his version on this figure, and that's something I need to work on.

Be inspired, but make sure that you never forget to enjoy yourself! This is a hobby not our career. Never loose sight that you have a great talent. You’re not the best in the world, but so what!! We enjoy watching you do what you do and my hope is that you enjoy it too. Have FUN and please continue bringing pleasure to us who watch!

Another super figure, well done.

He must be in the cabinet by now?

And on to your next victim.

Looks like you have got into figures strongly and better for your time management too.

Have a good day with the warmer weather

Just got in and missed the finish. Have taken a look and there is a difference this time around. I noticed some weathering with dirt carried up the base of the great coat which is nice and so not you Peter. The shades are nicely done. Looks really good. :thumb2:

What's happened to your avatar and membership? A glitch I suppose.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Richard,
No it's not a glitch. Peter left after a discussion about unclear 'Thread titles', it seems that topic has now been deleted from the forum, it's all very dark and sad.

I really loved Peter's work, will miss him :disappointed:
