Tamiya 1/35 SAS Jeep

My mum and dad bought me this kit back in the 70s when I was a kid, and I loved it. Nowadays, I'm a committed aircraft modeller, but this was for sale for £5 at my local model club, so I thought I'd have a nostalgia trip! I've used Legend resin wheels, the Italeri jerrycan set (an armour modeller at the club told me the kit ones were wrong), and the Eduard PE set. It was my first attempt at the hairspray chipping technique - Olive Drab first, then Buff over the top. Then an oil wash of Burnt Umber, drybrushing with light yellow enamel, and finally an overall dusting with pale yellow pastel chalks.

Thanks Si - although after the wheels, jerry cans and PE, it wasn't quite as cheap!

This jeep looks really good.

The paintwork is lovely. I will build this one, nearly, on my Sand SSIG, so it will be an excellent reference ;)

Cheers

Very nice model Andy. Very authentic. Paint work and deterioration of the finishes very nicely depicted.

Nice change from the usual aircraft models Andy, and very well weathered and completed.
