The masts are both finished and painted now that the airbrush problem was solved. You will see that one of the radar booms is missing, this is because it is a rotating one and can only be fitted when the tower is in place on the wheel house roof this is because i have to cut the shaft to length when the motor is in place. The next job is to fit the lighting and connect them as they should be sequenced for various manouvers.

Im looking for a little help guys. i have searched the net for reference pics of the hand rails on ships. The reason for this is that i have seen a clip on movie i was watching the other day and noticed that the top rail was black, as soon as i noticed this i didnt get time to see if the upright posts were black as well or just the rails to the post leaving the post white. I cant find any pictures to confirm this, any ideas please?

Cheers

I think its a ship by ship thing. Only such places as the Royal Navy, and the like, have carved in stone rules as to how railings should be painted.

A private ship, be it person or company, would I imagine paint their rails exactly how they see fit.

Andy, they are normally white for visibility at night, see attached photo of the Happy Hunter where you can see they are white. Cheers Derek

p.s. you must be on bonus to be cracking on with this build at your rate of work, looking really nice.

Thanks for the support guys. There are times when you think you have finished a section but stand back and take it in and you realise that you havent. There are still bits to fit the decks that i didnt notice.... more masts, flags, the brass bell a few pulleys and a telephone cable that spans the masts, Oh well, some more veiwing on this section to come.

Cheers

I think now that i have completed the top deck finaly. I added the extra aerials, flags, the extra flag pole, logos and the telephone cables. Then looking closer at the pictures in the book and not the plans i find the search light. Luckily i purchased a nice 12v PE one at a boat show some time ago, had a little problem fishing the cables as it should have gone on before the wheel house roof was fixed down.

Also in the background you will see a working model of the Sanit Tropez i have just purchased for the right price.

Thanks Ole, the Bismark was a present to me from Richard (Bunkerbarge) some time ago as he was having a clearout. He had started building it but never finished. I will at some stage complete it and may even get it to sail.

We are moving on quite quickly now, I have painted the inner deck sides with the light grey.

View attachment 58581View attachment 58582View attachment 58583View attachment 58584

The next step is to apply the green deck colour, this can only be done with a brush because of the cutting in around the stansions.

View attachment 58585View attachment 58586View attachment 58587View attachment 58588

Its now time to fit out the decks with the various items, im starting at the bow and working towards the stern.
