OK...ready for a coat of primer,

The tracks are dry fitted so I can remove for painting, as are the outside road wheels. I've added pins on the inside to help get some sag, I plan on gluing the tracks to the top of the road wheels so I may not need the pins.

Added the p.e exhaust guards which are overkill in my opinion. Plastic would have been fine. The rear tow hooks were the final pieces to complete this kit.

Having your name next to every post, I'm the same Aaron, it's the time zone nothing more.

This is why I like to see the progress. Great to see the wheels and tracks are dry fitted only, I was wondering how the tracks and wheels would be tackled. Did you paint any of the interior Aaron? I'm going to use your build as a reference when the time comes for my Tiger.

Thanks Joe and Monica, I haven't painted any of the inside yet. I will however paint the inside of the turret vallejo Grey or close the hatch. I'll get a coat of Ak black primer on today. I've never built a model this fast in my life.

Beautiful primer but has its weakness.

After 24 hours I laid a base coat of Tamiya desert yellow followed with a highlight of buff. Then I thought I'd try something new to me...colour modulation.

I added white to the buff and masked of some panels then tried my luck at applying a gradient highlight. Really difficult in this scale.

My next step is to highlight raised details even further with Ak interactive modern us vehicle.

The colour modulation is working really well Aaron - I wouldn't fancy trying it in 1/72, so well done you!

Thanks Patrick, it was easy compared to the camo and of course I chose the hardest scheme. I'm not too happy with it but I think it's the best I can do at the moment.

Thank you Monica, I hoping the filter will tie it in a bit better. I could just repaint it.

Don't repaint it Aaron, it looks sweet! A filter should help soften the contrast between the colours just a little, and it doesn't need much. Like the tip about the pins to get sag in the tracks by the way, might steal that in the future.

I'm going to apply a filter now so it will be dry for a gloss coat in the morning.

It will be a challenge doing the decals, lots of raised detail.

It's fine as it is Aaron - the filter & weathering will tie it all together. I know how tough it is getting those thin lines of camo done, so you're doing really well!

Thanks Patrick, If it looks too crap after a filter and gloss coat I could winter whitewash it. The instructions say 1944 so theoretically this panzer could have been whitewashed.

Been away Aaron, so just caught up with your progress. Great looking paint work mate, the modulation is hard to see, but awesome work especially when you consider the size of these things in 1/72. Look forward to seeing the filter go on. Awesome work so far, enjoying this one.

The paint splatters. So bad. I read somewhere that modeling is 30% fixing mistakes, but this is ridiculous. Some people might say I'm being hard on myself but the motto is: I don't build to meet other people's standards, I build to meet mine. This being said, I'm disappointed in my work.

Because of the terrible camo I did something I don't like to do: an overall wash. Here's the result.

This wash was done with Ak interactive wash for oif & oef.

Next step a pin wash with Mig neutral wash, to touch up.

I'm using a hd camera app on my phone which is brutally honest to the eye but also awesome for pointing out the state of my model. Sorry the update is so long.

Painted the tracks brown then misted raw umber and gave a dry brush of steel.The road wheels and drive sprocket teeth were also painted steel.

The pictures are loading very slowly for me Aaron, I think I have internet speed issues again so will look in again later. What I can see so far is good. Shame to hear about the splatter, look forward to seeing the result of the wash...
