Decided to start on this today, i'm going to be putting it in a little diorama and aim to have as many doors/hatches/flaps open as possible as there's a great big engine that needs showing off ....

Here's the box and sprues, there's PE bits too (god help me:smiling3:)

Got the running gear attached and painted, i'm playing around with drybrushing effects and this little lot has a base green with a dark brown dry brush, then over that a hap-hazzard dry brush with gun-metal just to give a few worn bits here and there.

Is that a sale price ticket from Wonderland Models I see?

Was in there again the other day but thought they didn't have much compared to the usual kid in a sweet shop type thing I usually experience.

This looks like a cool vehicle, are you putting in the snow like the box art? M

Hope you've brough enough popcorn Ron :smiling3: :smiling3:

Yes Michael, Richard at wonderland pointed it out when i said i wanted something a bit unusual.

I have an idea to show off the engine and a bit of the interior .... was thinking of putting it in a dio where it's been pulling large branches cut from a fallen tree across a road, it'll be depicted as overheated (hence open hatches etc) after attempting to pull the main tree trunk clear of the road ...... what ya reckon ??

Good start Colin and welcome to the wonders of PE.

I wonder How that fits

I wonder where that bit goes

I wonder if it goes on top of that or instead of it.

Most of it fits pretty good but some parts can be a pita.

Tip of the day. if you need to roll any parts anneal them first. It make it a lot easier.

I've never seen one of these built up, so following in the wings.

so then Ian. pretty much straight forward with a few glitches along the way... :smiling3: :smiling3:

is annealing these PE bits like proper brass ..I.e. you need to keep the heat on a little longer? or will they melt like an alloy?

grab some popcorn mate :smiling3:

You just want them a dull cherry red and let them cool on their own.

If you give them to much heat, they can and will inevitably melt and you risk molten brass dripping on your thumb nail. It hurts like a hurty thing so dont!!

I was quite suprised to see the seats had no detail, what with the kit being so nicely moulded etc so i covered them with my favorite laggers tape (crinkled up) and then gave them a mid brown base coat, matt black wash then a light brown dry brush and ended up with this.

I had to cut away some of the front seat as it didn't fit in its slot/pins properly, it was butted up against the gear lever thing ... checked the destructions and i'd got everything in the right position so i'm a bit perplexed at this.

Starting to look like the weird thing it is, the front drive wheels are yet to be fitted as they need a bit of packing as they are too loose fitting, don't want to fit them just yet as they may off-set the tracks if i don't get them in line properly.

got the interior done, will have to just go over the back of the light pods as i stupidy didn't paoint these before i fitted them.

View attachment 59863View attachment 59862

The main box type storage assembley on the back will have a few hatches open,

View attachment 59864

The doors are a concertiner affair and need their glass and hinges to be finished and attached.
