At the moment I am debating on whether to paint the german forces to resemble wehrmacht or waffen ss. any input from anyone would help, thanks! :smiling3:

It would depend on what insignia you have put on the vehicles that you have in the diorama. If they have SS plates then I would paint the figures in SS uniforms and visa versa.

good call bunker. I just did some research on the jagdtiger I'm using w/ decals and all. I have it painted to resemble a 653rd s. Pz.Jag.Abt, seems the 17th SS Panzergrenadier Division was using some so it looks like I'm going to paint the germans in an SS style.

Sorry I have posted any updates lately. I'm in the process of painting the infantry. I'll try to get some pics up of the new terrain and some of the infantry tomorrow.

I take that back I took some quick pics of the infantry on the terrain. They arent finished yet, they have mainly their base colors on but I just set them in positions I felt they "suited"

Now with some figures on the diorama is really coming to life. Some of them do come across as a bit shiny though so may well benefit from a coat of a matt clear such as Humbrol if they have been painted with enamels.

The uniforms will look more realistic in a matt finish.

I agree with Bbarge, those guys look like they jumped into a tub of baby oil :P . Everything is coming along nicely, I have been following this build from the beginning.

sorry I havent posted lately, I've been crazy busy with my classes that I havent had time for much else besides work... but I've got the tanks all assembled and began to paint them. They are pretty much done but I need some tips on how to do some weathering on them. I was never much of a painter so they arent too eye appealing right now. I dont have any pics and Im in a hurry to leave for class yet again, so I'll try to post some later tonite. In the mean time does anyone have any quick tips for weathering?

Okay well I got some pics.. The tanks arent finished like I said. The silver speckles on them are supposed to look like marks from bullets. I havent washed over the tanks yet so they wont be so noticable. I have began to place some of the soldiers on. In the process of blending them in with the ground also.. Plus the tanks arent attached and the bottom of their treads will NOT be showing..

Can you get some better photos - the last ones look really over exposed and the lighter ares are just bleached out. It's a little hard to offer any advice otherwise.

Well I got some new pics. I've recently attempted to add some form of weathering to the tanks. I read on a site awhile back that if you use old make-up it can be quite usefull, so I asked my girlfriend for some old make-up and gave it a shot. It didnt really show up quite so much on the actual tank body, but it worked out nice to clog the treads and show some wear. The pictures are pretty bright ebcasue it's been snowing non-stop this week.

Looking very decent so far at the ground work level. Like previous viewers I would say the same about pressing the tank tracks in..............also you might want to consider adding a destroyed french barn......but if you have already added a broken wall and debris that is fine. Im a new member and havent uploaded anything yet but am working on a similar idea with a King tiger in Hedgerow country........:smiling3:PS....try static grass maybe someones already mentioned it but heh...im new!
