In August 1941 the 'Legless' British fighter pilot, Douglas Bader allegedly collided with an Me109 over Germany.
Whilst trying to eject from his stricken Spitfire, his right prosthetic limb wedged behind a control pedal. He eventually managed to fall free, but his 'Leg' remained in the aircraft.

He survived the landing and remained in captivity until the end of the war.

The book 'Reach for the Sky' is well worth a read.

Further reading of the actual incident is also recommended.

No trickery or superimposing stuff. Just first class 'Chuckery' on the wife's part..... ;)

Here's the pickies from the finished build.

A real big thumbs up from me. Wonderful modelling and your usual stunning photos. All credit to the ace chucker, Mrs Ron. The skill of getting all three elements in the air and in the right position at the same time is testament to her skills.

That is looking really good, and very practical as far as photography is concerned … Did the model survive that, BTW? :smiling3:

What to write?

Thank you chaps for the amazing posts on my stab at D.B.'s incident.
It was a s*d to do, but all your encouraging comments spurred me on.

Jakko, yes, it did survive and is already in a box, ready for it's final resting place in my loft.

Thanks again, one and all. :thumb2:
